Render Tools

Sat Mar 7, 2009, 8:57 AM
I get tons of questions about how I do/did the renders in my gallery and my time is very short usually. So here is a brief overview of what is used.

Software: Poser 5, Photoshop, Paintshop Pro 7 and 8

Models: Victoria 3, Stephanie petite 3, Micheal 3 David 3 Aiko 3 all from Daz

Lights: Kirisute Vampyre lights formerly at Renderosity. Shadowed kiss light set is the one I use in the package plus two Poser 5 white infinite lights. Usually one situated at 11 o'clock and the other at 2 o'clock. The lights are key to the realism you see in my renders and the only ones I ever used once I found them.

Textures: The best I could possibly find. My three coveted skin textures were Amazing Grace, Qin, and Kadidja all made by "Byte me ok" (Cindy Imhoff). These were created right around 2003 and I could never find skin textures that were any better than these. They are not avaliable on the market anymore unfortunately. All I can say is try contacting Miss Imhoff to obtain these. They are worth the trouble. Daz has a texture converter that will work to use any v3 texture on v4. For those who don't know, V3 textures will also work on Steph petite. For cloth and props, again the best I could possibly find. Most of the really stunning textures I used for props and fabric were found on free sites like D.A. You just have to search for these. Also, try taking your own pictures of things such as fabric, metal, and cloth to make your own.

Skin Shaders: Every render you see in my gallery with the exception of Young lust and Blackmail were made using Face_Off's skin shader avaliable at Renderosity. Alot of the newer v4 textures come with pre installed skin shaders that you cannot alter or control. There is a wide range of control and adjustment with the Face off skinshader. This is another must have to acheive realism in my opinion. I do not know if it will work with the texture converter though. It will not work on stand alone v4 textures, but does work on all textures made for the above mentioned figures. The Face off skin shader will also work on anything with a hip object such as animals. You can get some pretty cool results with this.It was designed for Poser 5 and I know ther is also a version for Poser 6 so please do some research befor buying this and trying it in Poser 7. Keep in mind that the only version of Poser I ever used was Poser 5. I tried 6 and 7 briefly and was very unimpressed with each.

Genitals: The female genitals in my renders are all done with a prop called " V Gen" which was designed and offered for free a very long time ago and has since disappeared from the market. It can be used on any female character with a little tweaking. The male genitals are made by Satanica and are avaliable at the other site that I'm not supposed to mention here. Just do a Yahoo search for Satanica and you willl find them. The skin shader can be applied to this figure because it does have a hip object. This is why the male gens in my renders look so real.

If you see any object in my renders, would like to try it but don't know what it is, just ask and i will tell you what it is and where to get it. I have time for short replies but not for long ones like this.

So, to sum it all up, the technology used to create my renders is very old. I swear by Poser 5 and I know downgrading is a little hard to swallow for most people, it is what I used to create all of these. The lights that I mentioned WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY IN POSER 6 AND 7. Also, everything was done on an old computer with a 1 ghtz processor and 512 ram. Everything else is my own composition and struggling to get things to look right. Hope this helps guys. I could probably write a book on detailed products and techniques but my time is very limited. If your questions and notes have gone unanswered it is due strictly to the lack of time that I have on a regular basis.

Perfume

A little off the cuff but I watched a film last night called "Perfume". The movie stars Allan Rickman and Dustin Hoffman as well as some lesser known actors and actresses. this is one of the most visualy stunning films I have ever seen. The only other two movies I would put in this category are The House Of Flying Daggers and Pan's Labrynth. The film is dark and twisted but at the same time strangely erotic. A work of art in my opinion. So if you are not on the squeamish side, give it a look. I think it was released in 2006.

Hey guys. I have a completed drawing posted at eroticartists.org if you care to take a look. This is a drawing I started almost two years ago and shelved it at the line drawing stage and returned to Poser. It's mediocre in my opinion, but I'm in the early learning stages of this whole thing. You do not need to join or login to view pictures on this site.

Thanks
